Day 3 - Fort Ancient - Miamisburg Mound

Today we went to Fort Ancient. On the drive in, there were a few cute little mounds around the entrance.

Then after, we had a visitor. Wayne and Rod explained most of his information he tells us is not correct. For example him and other archeologists think this fort was a church. Also they thought there were about 10 families that built the earthwork walls around the fort, which is incorrect, it's huge and there's no possible way 10 family's good build this big of a earthwork.

On the drive around the fort there were some archeologists digging trying to find artifacts. Very lucky to be able to see this!

Stream around the earthwork walls.

Very deep and steep earthwork walls.

View at the end of the fort.

Picture at the beginning of the museum. This is an image of the Hopewell People!
It's pretty amazing don't you think?

I just wanted to share typical Indian knowledge with you. ( I really loved the Manikins so just read on & bear with me.

When the first Indians came to fort ancient it was during the Ice Age!

The men hunted for food.

The women gathered and prepared the food.

These "people" are preparing spiritual rituals and were also healers
