Day 2 Mound City, Seip Mound, Fort Hill.

Today we first went to Mound City.
Some of these mounds are burial mounds. In most of the mounds in Mound City archeologists found ancient artifacts under these mounds. These are some artifacts found.

One thing Wayne explained is that sometime when the Hopewell people stayed here it was a tropical land. But in this government owned museum it states this animal was an eagle. Wayne and everyone else agrees it's a parrot, even the store owner but we can't change that.

The group around the mounds listening to small lectures.

Then after Mound City we traveled to the Seip mound. On the way there Wayne wouldn't stop talking about a GPR.
A GPR is a global positioning rod. If you hold these rods and walk on ground whenever they cross the land under you has been disturbed before. The rods do work! Like it says in the scriptures they used them for knowledge and to find things from the past. A true gift from god.

After the Seip Mound we traveled to Fort Hill. If you like hiking, this is the place for you. If a old guy survied hiking this you could too.

The view from the top of Fort Hill. Beautiful!

This used to be a Spring created by the Hopewell people.

Wayne using his GPR next to the swamp that used to be a spring where we found what could be Hopewell homes.

Now I'm basically running down back to the bus!

When we got back to the bottom we found some people who didn't hike like this:

For lunch we went to a Amish Bakery which is always just truly amazing.

Next we went to the Serpent Mound. This mound was Huge!!

At the head of the Serpent Mound we came across some lady doing a ritual. What we thought were gunshots was her banging her little drum. It scared us just a little.

Finally Dinner! This place didn't look appetizing from the outside but boy, it was good. What to learn from this: don't judge a book by it's cover.
